The Stretcher Elevator (Stretching) is basically designed to carry only few persons and Hospital Beds smoothly. It is further designed to carry Heavy Bulky hospital equipment on its ground. As this is an Emergency Critical Equipment for the Building, ensure maximum Uptime of this equipment. Ensure timely completion of all necessary operations in order to avoid any mishaps or emergency cases.

Generally, stretcher lifts come in two variants, namely, front-end loaders and low-deck loading carts. Usually stretcher elevators come with two types of stretchers; namely, open and enclosed. Both types have been designed and engineered keeping in mind various operational requirements of different situations. Both these variants of stretcher elevators are generally available with single or double stretcher/rope arrays.

Open stretcher elevator is typically used when there is less space available to erect the crane/elevator mast. In such cases, the elevator is placed outside the building where it can be accessed easily by workers. Usually, it has an opening at the bottom of the door for loading/unloading of the materials from the lower level. Similarly, the enclosed elevators are used where the platform cannot be accessed from the waiting hall. Instead, workers will have to wait at the very bottom of the loading area by using waiting-at-the-bottom carts.

Both the above mentioned varieties of stretcher elevators have been manufactured with following features; i.e., long side direction and width direction. Long side direction is meant for placing stretcher/rope arrays either in horizontal or vertical position. On the other hand, width direction is meant for extending the array in either horizontal or vertical position. Such features ensure safety of workers while handling the materials on the platform. Ideally, the long side-directional elevators are used when the platform can be accessed through the top of the building. On the other hand, the width-directional elevators should be used when the platform can be accessed through the bottom of the building.

Generally, such type of elevators includes safety features such as emergency stop buttons, fire extinguishers, and obstruction-muting devices etc. These features make the lifts safer to operate than the ordinary elevators. Moreover, the presence of such features also ensure easy evacuation from the premises when there is fire accident within the vicinity. Such features help workers and emergency personnel to get safe immediately from the scene of occurrence of any fire. In addition to this, safety sensors installed in such type of lift provides notification of any impending danger such as loss of connection or opening of speed mechanism etc.

Today, there are a number of companies which manufacture and supply a wide variety of types of such elevators.
